Virginia Tech's game against Appalachian State offered a relaxed second half for the Hokies and their fans, as they rolled to a 66-13 season-opening win. The second one? That was a bit tenser last week at East Carolina, as Tech needed an 89-yard touchdown drive from its struggling offense with 7:30 left to win 17-10.
Virginia Tech’s offensive line was supposed to be a stabilizing factor this season as the Hokies debut a new starting quarterback, sophomore Logan Thomas. And it still very well may be. But the Hokies’ line is once again off to a less-than-ideal start to preseason practice.
Last we heard from Mike O’Cain, the new offensive play caller, he was raving about Thomas during spring practices, saying he had done everything he could to this point.
