Danny Coale shares Sugar Bowl experience

Reflecting on his last game as a Hokie, Danny Coale says despite some early mistakes he has no regrets.

"There are a lot of moments and you would love to go back and change them but you can't, the cards have been dealt and I am proud of the guys for putting ourselves in a position to win,” says Coale.

He credits some of that to 3rd string kicker Justin Meyer, who had to step in last minute.

"He was our point, he scored the points for us, puts up in a position to go into overtime and to win it and I don't agree a field goal cost us the game, I do not agree with that at all. This game should never have come down to a field goal and I think he did a tremendous job,” says Coale.

Coale says they had hope going into the second half, but that changed in overtime when refs ruled Coale did not make a touchdown. After the game he had this to say:

"I thought it was a bang bang play and I wasn't for sure. I thought it was a touchdown on the field and thought it would have been hard to overturn but like I said earlier they obviously saw something I didn't,” says Coale.

Thinking back on it a few days later, he says it was a roller coaster of emotions.

"It was a little bit disappointing and you kind of feel helpless and at that moment you just knew there was nothing you could do to reverse the call,” says Coale.

Walking off the field, Coale says he was reminded how much support he has from the fans and the team.

"Coach Foster said to me five years ago when I was being recruited, he would stand on the table for me, and he just told me he would do the same today,” says Coale.

As he moves on in his career, Coale says he will never forget Virginia Tech.
