A new restaurant featuring a legendary coach will be opening in downtown Roanoke this spring.

Wednesday on its Facebook page, the Lofts at West Station announced that a restaurant will be opened on the main floor of the building by Hokies Football Coach Frank Beamer.

'Beamer's 25' will feature 25 local beers and burgers from across the Commonwealth.

25 was Beamer’s number when he played for the Hokies in the 1960’s.

Downtown Roanoke Inc. is hopeful the signature restaurant will help bring hungry visitors to a different part of the city.

“There's 1,200 people living downtown,” said Sean Luther, the President and CEO of Downtown Roanoke Inc.  “But they can't support a restaurant that's going into this project by themselves.  We need help from the rest of the Roanoke Valley.”

Beamer's 25 is slated to open in the late spring.
